The Western Boone tennis team defeated North Montgomery 3-2.

At No. 1 singles, Jon Rutherford won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 over Dane Elliott.

At No. 2 singles, Jacob Collins won 6-4, 6-2 over Austin Biddle and at No. 3 singles, Tristyn Fault lost to Carter Thompson 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 1 doubles, Easton Nance and Owen Oakley won 6-0, 6-1 over Cayden Keller and Keaton Brown. At No. 2 doubles, Burke Cavins and Zac Weesies lost to Piersyn Joyce and Aiden Ambriz 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

WeBo golf

The Western Boone girls golf team topped Covenant Christian 175-192.

Ally Lewis led the team with a 37.

Jada Scott had a 41, Lexi Gregg shot a 48, Ila Stokes had a 49 and Jaylee Dickerson had a 50.

Venus Williams made her return to competitive tennis after a 16-month hiatus with a women's doubles victory at the WTA and ATP DC Open (Rob Carr) Seven-time Grand Slam single champion Venus Williams returned to competitive tennis after a 16-month hiatus on Monday with a doubles victory at the WTA and ATP DC Open. The 45-year-old American joined compatriot Hailey Baptiste to defeat Canada's Eugenie Bouchard and US teen Clervie Ngounoue 6-3, 6-1 in a first-round match.
