Girls tennis: Litchfield gets 3rd seed at state; Montevideo unseeded

Oct. 16—MINNEAPOLIS — drew the third seed and

enters unseeded for the Class A state girls tennis tournament, the Minnesota State High School League announced Thursday morning.

The state tournament starts Tuesday at InnerCity Tennis, formerly known as the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center.

Litchfield opens up against fifth-seeded Pine City at 8 a.m. and Montevideo faces third-seeded Foley at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The other pair of quarterfinal matches feature top-seeded Breck versus unseeded Thief River Falls at 10 a.m. and second-seeded St. James versus unseeded Lake City at noon Tuesday.

The semifinals are at 8 and 10 a.m. Wednesday with the championship scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday.

There are three area individuals who will compete in the Class A state singles tournament starting at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Litchfield junior Emma Wuotila faces Red Wing's Lorilei Hartman in an unseeded matchup. Yellow Medicine East sophomore Brianna Nelson plays fifth-seeded Brooke Boland of Pine City. Minnewaska senior Olivia Danielson takes on fourth-seeded Tori Oehrlein of Crosby-Ironton.

There are three doubles teams who have advanced to the Class A state doubles tourmament beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Litchfield juniors Isla Dille and Molly Patten are the third seed and play unseeded Bella Weisser and Ava Drevlow of Osakis. Minnewaska senior Alia Randt and junior Rachel Rankin have the fourth seed and face Nina Messer and Ella Thorstad of Belle Plaine. Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg junior Emily McGinty and sophomore Tara Beyer are unseeded and take on unseeded Emelia Klanderud and Alison Slama of Fairmont.
